Uncommon Bar

This sensory-driven café explores how thoughtful design can nurture wellbeing. As part of Instil Collective, I worked alongside my collaborators to focus on the materialisation and interior decoration that brings "The Living Network of Roots" concept to life. The space reflects Uncommon's deep connections with coffee producers through carefully chosen materials and textures. We integrated quartzite, Bogaji fabric, textured glass, and hand-carved wooden floors to create an organic rhythm inspired by fractal patterns found in nature. Each element was selected to balance natural forces and foster a sense of calm and mindfulness. Collaborating with neuroarchitect Andréa de Paiva, we explored how design impacts our emotional and physical states. The result is a space where branding becomes part of the storytelling, creating deeper connections between people, place, and the ritual of coffee. This project marks the beginning of our research into biofeedback and design's effect on wellbeing—an exploration that continues to inform how we create spaces that truly nurture.
